Animate between steps
A step transition is the animation learners see each time they move from one step to the next. It applies to the whole lesson, so every step change uses the same animation.
Choose a transition
- Open your lesson in the editor.
- Open the Lesson Settings panel and expand Player Options.
- Under Step Transition, pick a transition.
Your choice saves right away. Open the lesson preview and move between steps to see it.
| Transition | What learners see | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| None | The next step appears instantly | Fast-paced practice and quizzes |
| Fade | The previous step fades out to reveal the next | Most lessons (the default) |
| Slide | The next step slides in over the previous one | Linear, story-like lessons |
| Push | The next step pushes the previous one off-screen sideways | Lessons that feel like turning pages |
| Push Up | The next step pushes the previous one up and off-screen | Lessons that flow like a scrolling feed |
| Zoom | The next step scales up into place | Visual lessons and big reveals |
| Wipe | The next step is revealed by a moving edge | Before-and-after comparisons |
New lessons start with Fade.
Going back
Slide, push, push up and wipe play in reverse when a learner goes back to an earlier step, so the movement always matches the direction they are travelling.
Reduced motion
Learners whose device is set to reduce motion see a simple fade instead of slide, push, push up, zoom or wipe.
Component transitions
Step transitions move the whole step. To animate a single component as a step appears, select the component and set its Transition In instead. Both can be used together.
