Write and format text
Add and style text content in your lesson steps.
Text components are the backbone of most lesson steps. You can add headings, body copy, and richly formatted content — and even make that text dynamic by embedding variables.
Adding a text component
Drag a Text component from the component sidebar onto your step canvas. You can place text anywhere on the canvas, including inside grid cells or other layout components.
Once placed, click the text to select it and start typing. A formatting toolbar appears at the top of the editor when text is selected.
Formatting options
The rich text toolbar gives you standard formatting controls:
- Bold and italic for emphasis
- Headings (H1, H2, H3) to create visual hierarchy
- Bulleted and numbered lists
- Inline code formatting
You can also mix styles within a single text component — bold a key term, add a heading above a paragraph, or create a bulleted list inside a longer explanation.
Embedding variables in text
Variables let you display dynamic values in text. There are a couple special options in the toolbar that let you insert numeric expressions, or even input fields.
Adjusting margins and spacing
Select a text component and open the Style panel on the right to adjust margins. You can add top and bottom margin to create breathing room between components without needing to add blank spacer components.
Margin adjustments are especially useful when stacking multiple text blocks on a step — you can tighten spacing between related content and add space before a new section.
